Even well-intentioned church and ministry leaders can be so consumed by the demands of providing spiritual ministry and caring for people that they neglect certain vital aspects of the organization’s corporate health.  Attorney Dan Beirute and Richard Locke (C.P.A.) recently discussed areas where churches and ministries sometimes fail to be in compliance with the law. This is information that every pastor and church administrator needs to hear.

Building God's Dream Team
by Tony Cooke

Brooks Robinson, the famed third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles once said regarding the value of each person’s contribution, “To make a ball club a champion, the effort has to start with the bat boy and move right up to the owner.”  The Apostle Paul occasionally used athletic imagery to emphasize certain aspects of the Christian life and of ministry specifically.  It is amazing to see the many parallels that exist when it comes to those who excel in and become true champions in their given fields, whether it’s in the natural arena of sports or the spiritual field of ministry.  Click here to read the entire article.

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamations

“No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God... It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States… to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.”

Approval, Appreciation, and Affirmation
By Tony Cooke

A philosopher once observed, “The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.”  We might dispute his conclusion, arguing instead that man’s need for God is the deepest need of human nature.  However, I think we would all agree that people have a need to feel valued and appreciated.  Mark Twain expressed how much the affirmation of others meant to him when he said, "One compliment can keep me going for a whole month."  How deep is this need?  Consider the little boy who said to his father: "Let's play darts. I'll throw and you say 'Wonderful!'" Click here to read the entire article.
