Preaching Schedule
As a young pastor, I’ve just been preaching about whatever I feel inspired to preach.  Sometimes I don’t know what I’m going to preach on Sunday morning until Saturday night.  I don’t want to eliminate all spontaneity or being led by the Spirit, but should I have some kind of “preaching overview schedule” to make sure I cover certain topics each and every year?  How do other pastors plan their preaching schedule and establish which topics they’re going to cover over the course of a year to ensure their people receive a well-rounded diet? Loving the Old Testament

In spite of the high value that Jesus and the Apostles placed on the Old Testament writings, there are still those who are fairly dismissive of it.  You may have been in a conversation with someone and brought up a principle from the Old Testament, only to have your statement trivialized by the response, “Yes, but that’s from the Old Testament.”  I realize we are not under the Law of Moses, but the Old Testament contains so much more than just “the Law.”  Much of the Old Testament reflects eternal principles that transcend all covenants and ages!  Read the article.

If Jesus were walking the face of the earth today doing carpentry work, would he adapt to new technology in the construction industry and use nail guns and power saws or would he have remained a purist sticking with the manual tools of the trade?  If He were to remain in a profitable business today I believe he would use every means possible to adapt to new technology in order to be more effective.  Read the article.

Folks want to know that you honestly care about them and about the area you now call home. “Home is where your heart is”  is more than just a saying; it is the most important key to small town ministry.
