In Search of Timothy–Seminar Overview
Developing the Traits of Great Staff Members

Tony has begun conducting seminars across the country for Church Staffs. If you’d like to find out more about these “In Search of Timothy” seminars, please e-mail us at office@tonycooke.org

What?
“In Search of Timothy” is a one-day seminar that will add value to your staff and other key church leaders, maximize their performance, and increase their effectiveness. This training will emphasize teamwork, cooperation, positive attitude, a strong work ethic, integrity, and loyalty to the Senior Pastor. “In Search of Timothy” will help your staff get tuned-up, geared-up, fired-up, and ready to step-up to the next level.

Who Should Attend?
“In Search of Timothy” will benefit any church Staff Member or Supportive Minister. If a person works with you or for you, they will benefit! It is ideal for the Senior Pastor to attend with the staff.

Session 1
Biblical Perspectives of Supportive Ministry
Supportive Ministry is a calling, not a job. It’s real ministry, not a stepping-stone. This session examines the divine connections between leaders and supportive ministry throughout Scripture and identifies key principles found in these sacred relationships.

Session 2
The Commitments and Core Values of Great Supportive Ministers
People don’t become great Staff Members by accident; they have made strong commitments in four essential areas. We will also identify the distinct core values and perspectives that are vital for Supportive Ministers.

Session 3
The Traits of Great Supportive Members
Walking in these 14 Biblical Principles of Supportive Ministry will cause leaders and workers to be fulfilled, productive, and effective in their work. Ignoring these principles will short-circuit and undermine the effectiveness of even the most gifted Supportive Ministers.

Session 4
Staying Free from Staff Infection
Avoiding the Common Diseases of Supportive Ministry
Supportive Ministers begin their ministries with joy, enthusiasm, and optimism, but often find themselves fighting to maintain a good attitude and a positive outlook. Left untreated, these frustrations can weaken and cripple their ministry within the church. It is possible to stay healthy and vibrant as a Supportive Minister, but only if immunity is built up to these “common diseases.”

Tony was recently here with us at Abundant Life Fellowship for a time of ministry. His ministry is one of quality, integrity, and excellence. He was a great blessing to our entire church body. His "In Search of Timothy Seminar" was a tremendous ministry resource to our staff as well as to the staffs of many visiting churches. I have heard many wonderful reports of all the insight that was received during his time with us. It is with much enthusiasm that I highly recommend this ministry to you. You will find that Tony Cooke with both edify and challenge you and your supportive ministries to greater service for Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Having been in the ministry for 20 years, I know what it is to have the right staff in the right spot, and unfortunately, I also know what it is to have the wrong staff in the wrong spot. We often think that people need to be talented and that does help, but I've always looked for the faithful and then trained them to do the job.

When I received information that Rev. Cooke was doing the "In Search of Timothy" seminar in another state, I immediately contacted his office to set this seminar up in our church. The insight and illumination that came forth in this seminar not only equipped the staff and volunteer leaders who attended, but also helped the Senior Pastors that were attendance. People were absolutely blessed.

We opened this seminar up to other pastors and their staff members, as well as to their people serving in the ministry of helps. Those on our church staff and those who are involved in any type of ministry of helps were required to attend.

I can truly say that I have seen the effects in the lives of the people who attended from our church as they put the principles that were taught to work in their lives. I would recommend that any pastor, his staff and ministry leaders either attend an "In Search of Timothy" in their area or host this seminar in their church.

Having been in the ministry for over 20 years, I know the significance of having the right people on your staff and team, and I’ve learned that it’s not necessarily the most experienced, skilled, or talented individuals who make the cut. Although such traits should be considered and desired, they are secondary to a person’s qualities and characteristics such as loyalty to the pastor and to the vision of the church, integrity, and dependability.

I feel so strongly about this, that we recently invited Rev. Cooke to our church and hosted his seminar, In Search of Timothy. It is a revelation-packed seminar that equips pastors with the tools needed to make the right decisions regarding the people they surround themselves with. It also challenged those in supportive ministry to take inventory and evaluate whether or not their pastor would consider them to be the type of support Timothy was to Paul.

In addition to inviting a number of area churches and church staffs, I made attending the seminar a requirement for our entire staff, which meant suspending our day to day operations to ensure everyone could be in attendance. It was a decision that I am thankful for and an investment that is paying great dividends. People within our staff are asking themselves, “What adjustments do I need to make to be considered a Timothy to my pastor?”; “Are my efforts geared toward making my pastor and church successful?”; “Am I a low-maintenance, high-output member of the team?”

Whether you are just starting out in the ministry, or you have been in it for years; whether you deal with difficult people on your staff, or believe you’ve got the best of the best, I highly recommend hosting or attending In Search of Timothy. Rev. Cooke’s presentation was professional, impressive, and highly informative. He is an incredible teacher with a heart for pastors, which is why his delivery of the subject matter is so effective.

If you’re in search of Timothys for your organization, Rev. Cooke’s seminar will help you find them!

Thank you for the seminar "In Search of Timothy" held last week in Ohio. I brought four volunteer leaders from our church and was very thankful I did. You were able to say some things about submission/attitude/loyalty that I could never say. I also liked the many Old Testament examples you expounded on (Ahithophel, Ittai, Absalom, etc.). Thanks for helping make us a better church!

Pastor Stu Bishop
Joy In Him Christian Fellowship
Castro Valley, California

I recently attended your "In Search Of Timothy" leadership training classes at Heart of the Bay Christian Center in Hayward, California, along with five others from our staff. I found the teaching very sound and practical, well-presented and laid out in such a way that it was easy to follow. I am grateful for the wisdom and experience that was evident in the sessions. My staff, though well trained, was able to gain greater understanding and insight as to why and how many decisions are made with personnel, both staff and volunteer. Thank you for bringing to us at the local level what is often overlooked at minister conferences.

“Attending the 'In Search of Timothy' seminar was like the privilege of attending Rhema Bible Training Center again for just one day. Brother Tony taught relevant and anointed subjects that could be put into practice immediately in our church. My wife, myself, and the key leadership members from our church benefited greatly from attending this necessary teaching."
